Dr. Benz is the CEO and Founder of Intensel, a global award-winning AI-powered climate science for predicting financial risk related to weather extremes and climate change. Since 2008, she serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Department of Finance, HKUST Business School, teaching a variety of courses such as Fixed Income Securities and Derivatives, Investment Analysis, ESG & Sustainable Investing (since 2014) at the Masters level.

For more than 15 years, Dr. Benz has been acting as a consultant, advisor, executive trainer on ESG and Impact Investing for various institutions such as Citibank, JP Morgan, DBS, CLSA, Robecco, San Paolo Intensa, Morgan Stanley, Tencent etc. She has held executive seminars for IMD Institute, Switzerland, NY Stern, Kellog University and is a frequent speaker in large scale conferences such as The Economist, and the like. Previously, she worked for UBS Investment Bank in Hong Kong, and a Fund of Hedge Funds in Geneva, Switzerland.

Since 2019 she sits on the board of VEIL Fund (LSE listed) of Dragon Capital Group Limited and Chairs the Audit and Risk Committee. She also participates in the Board of Advisors of International Care Ministries (ICM), as well as the Friend of Earth NGO Advisory Board, both on a voluntary basis. Her publications and Harvard Business Review case studies focus on ESG integration, physical and transitional climate risk impact on company performance in general, China A- Shares, Asia-based companies.

Ashley is a pioneer in ESG and climate management with more than 20 years of experience advising startups, large corporations, regulators, and governments on the fast-evolving climate and sustainability management field.

Over the past two decades in the Asia-Pacific region, Ashley has advised blue chip corporations, including Jardine Matheson Group, Swire Group, HSBC, CLP Group, MTRC, Towngas, Maxim’s Group, Wal-Mart, and others on climate risk, TCFD disclosures, and ESG management.

Having been based in Hong Kong for the past 15 years, Ashley was a member of the ESG Working Group for the Financial Services Development Council (FSDC) from 2018 through 2020 to advise the Hong Kong Government on developing Hong Kong’s sustainable capital markets. He currently serves as External Advisor to the Jardine Matheson Sustainability Leadership Council and is also the external advisor to Swire Properties’ ESG Steering Committee.

Over the years, Ashley has led climate risk analyses for Hong Kong’s largest conglomerates and real estate developers. He has supported the development of multiple TCFD disclosure reports, physical and transition risk analyses, and climate decarbonisation strategies aligned with the Science-based Target initiative (SBTi).
